ABGI Romania (BEIA Grid Institut) participated in the ENABLES Training & Networking Event — “Digitalizare, GIS și Digital Twin pentru orașe”, held on 22–23 July 2026 in Bucharest and organised by UTCB together with Primăria Sectorului 2 under Horizon Europe, within the EU-CoNEXUS European University Alliance. The two-day programme covered digitalisation and Digital Twin approaches for cities, GIS tools and practical urban applications, data exchange between organisations, community and stakeholder engagement, and case studies from cities implementing digital solutions — closing with the ENABLES Mutual Learning & Networking Event.

ABGI Romania was represented at the event by our junior collegues Ana Hurtupan and Maria-Alexandra Dumitru, who completed the full training programme and participated in the networking sessions across both days. The event was valuable on both counts — deepening our team’s understanding of urban geospatial modelling, and generating a substantial set of new contacts among municipalities, research institutions and technology providers that open real possibilities for future joint work.

Geospatial modelling and urban data platforms are directly relevant to our engineering portfolio: WATERGRID combines nature-based solutions with digital technologies for integrated water and drought management in urban environments, while NEVERFLAT develop smart bidirectional EV charging infrastructure whose deployment depends on exactly the kind of spatial planning and grid-data intelligence explored across these two days.
